thinking in networks -
studying together
With its one-year Synopsis College, Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg has created an innovative study programme that offers young people a unique introduction to the world of science. In addition to individual study counselling, an introduction to university life, personal development opportunities and insights into career prospects, students can also look forward to guaranteed accommodation and no tuition fees.
The Wittenstein Foundation is initiating the conclusion of the one-year programme at Bronnbach Monastery as part of the ‘Discourse of Bronnbach’ series of events.
Focus area of the curriculum
On October 16, 2025, the Synopsis College was officially opened at the Müller-Thurgau-Haus in Würzburg.
The courses in the one-year programme take place during the semester and are mainly block seminars. Self-study phases, excursions, a student conference, a practical project and voluntary community activities in your free time make this a very varied experience. The centrally located Kolleghaus in Würzburg city centre serves as the base for joint study. There, students are actively supported in developing initial ideas for their future. Young people from so-called non-academic families in particular are encouraged to benefit from the Synopsis College.
Space for reflection
The programme concludes with an intensive review of the experiences and lessons learned at the former Cistercian Monastery in Bronnbach. In the seclusion of the historic walls, students have space to reflect on their experiences, develop new perspectives and think about their next steps together with mentors and lecturers.
Interdisciplinary thinking is further deepened in workshops, discussion groups and creative formats. At the same time, a space is created for individual self-assessment – between school and university, between curiosity and decision-making.
