On October 29, 2025, the Wittenstein Foundation invites you to the eleventh event in the "enter the future" series at the TauberPhilharmonie Weikersheim. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Dr. Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute and one of the most important voices in the German economy, will focus on the question of whether the ‘German business model’ is sustainable – and what needs to be done now to secure our country's economic foundation.

Germany is facing profound changes: international competitive pressure is increasing and demographic developments are exacerbating the situation on the labor market and in social security systems. Investments in digitization, education, and research are just as crucial as smart economic and financial policies. Among other things. But is Germany properly positioned to meet these challenges?

Scientific perspectives and social relevance

Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich since 2016, will analyze key economic policy challenges and propose solutions in his presentation. Among other things, he will address:

·       Germany's competitiveness in international comparison,

·       the effects of demographic change,

·       necessary investments in future fields,

·       and the role of the state and companies in the transformation.

Discussion with the audience

As usual, the event will be offered in a hybrid format. Following the presentation, Benedikt Hofmann (editor-in-chief of MM MaschinenMarkt) will host a moderated discussion in which the audience can contribute their own questions and ideas. Participation is free of charge.
