everyday heroes
recognise volunteer work
International Volunteer Day is an annual day of remembrance and action to recognise and promote volunteer work. An important driving force behind voluntary work are associations, which the Lions and Rotary Club Bad Mergentheim and the Wittenstein Foundation took as an opportunity to honour around 100 citizens from Weikersheim, Bad Mergentheim, Igersheim, Niederstetten, Creglingen, Boxberg, Assamstadt and Ahorn on 5 December 2024. A delicious three-course meal and Max Mutzke as a musical surprise guest awaited the invited guests and their companions in the TauberPhilharmonie.
The ‘everyday heroes’ were selected by the two clubs and the mayors of the respective municipalities. The commitment ranges from supporting local child and youth work to serving as the long-standing chair of an association.
As a cultural and scientific part of human history, astronomy has decisively shaped the way we think, view and classify planet Earth in the universe. Through the voluntary work of the members of the Astronomische Vereinigung Weikersheim e.V., a contribution to cultural education and knowledge transfer has now been made with the establishment of the Star Path, which the Wittenstein Foundation has financially supported.
